Wednesday 24th June: Bauer closing titles to protect business, long-term

Following a review of its magazine portfolio, Bauer UK has taken the decision to close a number of titles, sacrificing them for the 'long-term health” of the business. Press Gazette is reporting that music title Planet Rock, “true-life” magazine Simply You, and Practical Photography will all publish their final issues in July.
Several other titles will merge or go digital only; Bauer is in 'advanced negotiations' with potential buyers for music magazine Q, Car Mechanics, Modern Classics, Your Horse and Sea Angler.
Chris Duncan, who joined Bauer as UK publishing chief executive in April, has said: “We have had to make tough decisions about the future of some much-loved titles. We remain fully committed and positive about the strength of our remaining portfolio.”
