Friday 1st July: The Fix Foundation launches to support media in Ukraine

Good morning from Peter! Thanks so much for the response to our appeal earlier this week. If you missed it, please give it a read and find out how you can help.

Yesterday, The Fix Foundation was launched to support a free press and innovative media in Ukraine and Eastern Europe. Since the first hours of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the team at The Fix mobilised all possible resources to support their colleagues in the Ukrainian media industry.

To date they have received over €1 million in donations via GoFundMe and gathered another €2.5 million in support from foundations, corporations and individuals, with a further €2 million donated to the Kyiv Independent. They acknowledge that this is a lot of money, but say it is now going out as fast as it is coming in.

For that reason the The Fix Media Foundation has been set up with the mission to secure more support and to make sure the money gets to where it needs to be as effectively as possible. Expect more detail on the Foundation's plans over the coming weeks, but if you are interested in contributing to the foundation, financially or otherwise, contact [email protected].

The move is designed to bring the company closer to profitability and avoid having to raise money from investors in a weakening economy.
