President Trump wrote The Atlantic off as a "dying" magazine last week after it published an explosive story about him allegedly disparaging Americans who died in war. In reality, the publisher is doing very well, and Trump's comments came at the same time as a subscriber surge.

Since it introduced a paywall last year, The Atlantic has added 325,000 paid subscribers (against an initial target of 110,000 in 2 years).
